Zoom on the 2016 collection of the Selima Optique brand

Selina Optique is renowned for its sophisticated, sexy, glamourous and timeless styles. As well as its signed Selima Optique creations, the company is a frequent contributor to collections created for personalities or designers (Lenny Kravitz, Pamela Love, Playboy and Colette Paris.)

The crafting, the colour palette and the decision from the beginning not to add a logo, has made Selima Optique a fashion symbol in the United States.

Every season, during New York fashion week, Selima Optique is present on the catwalks of Proenza Schoeller, Ducky Brown, Erin Fetherston, Dane von Furstenberg and many others.

A veritable institution in New York, Selima Optique glasses are also worn throughout the year by Trend-setters and celebrities such as Ralph Lauren, Ryan Gosling, Josh Hartnett, Liv Tyler, Carla Bruni or Kirsten Dunst...who are all fans! It has been 20 years since Selima Salaun left Paris to open the first Alain Mikli boutique in NYC with her optician and optometrist diplomas in her pocket. She fell in love with the Big Apple and decided to settle there where she opened her first boutique in the artist's quarter in Soho. Manhattan gives her an exceptional creative energy.

Very quickly celebrities snapped up her frames (Michael Jackson, Maiween, Vanessa Paradis, Anna Mouglalis, Ryan Gosling, Cindy Lauper, Demi Moore, Cyndi Sherman, Yoko Ono, Marina Abramovic, Lenny Kravitz, John Turturro, Russell Westbrook, Tyson Chandler...). Her inspirations come from films by Godard, de Fellini, icons of cinema such as Steve McQueen and Marcello Mastroianni.

Selima is the treasurer of the Council of Fashion Designers of America.

Her first experience in Paris at Royal Optique (the optician of Crown Heads the world over) has enabled her to become a "bespoke eyewear" specialist (made to measure frames in plastic, horn or real tortoise shell) and Selima still works on a daily basis with these same artisans of the time.  The majority of her styles also come derive from French craftsmanship.

In addition, her collection of vintage frames, one of the largest in the world today (more than 10,000 pieces), enables her to work with a large number of well-known designers and serves as the inspiration for many of her collaborations (Club Monaco, Jack Spade, JCrew, Bobby Brown, and more) including the prestigious partnership with the famous Neue Galerie with the Sigmund Freud frame.

Selina lives in a loft in Soho. A Spanish inn where her husband, their two children, two cats and four dogs welcome friends passing through all year round. A life full of encounters, passion and creation. That's the life of Selima Salaun.
